Why I Fundraise
Ron Carmichael
Grandfather to Josie (living with CF) | Organizer of Gas-A-Rama.
My name is Ron Carmichael, I'm retired and I enjoy golfing, horse races and watching our grandchildren play in different sports. I am a member of the Parkdale Sherwood Lions Club since 1976. The reason I joined is because a friend of mine was a member and I liked what the Lions Club did in our community.
Our granddaughter Josie, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was four years old. At the time we were shocked and dismayed on what to do or how to do it and what CF was all about. We tried to support her by learning how to do her treatments, helped her with her medication, and tried to make sure she participated in activities to keep keep her lungs working.
Our fundraiser is called Gas-A-Rama where 5 Lions Clubs across Prince Edward Island join with Mel's Gas & Convenience Store where they provided hot dogs and condiments and we did a BBQ. The sales from the BBQ and a percentage of gas sales that day went directly to CF research.
I feel good about being able to help raise funds and hopefully one day it'll be a cure for CF.
There are no limits to what you can accomplish to support this community!
