Who Are the Change Makers?

Change Makers are dedicated members of the cystic fibrosis community who are passionate about driving meaningful change. They organize community fundraisers of all shapes and sizes across the country in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
Whether you’re supporting loved ones living with cystic fibrosis or going through your own personal journey, you can help fund CF research advancements, access to life-changing treatments, and the delivery of critical support to this community. Being a Change Maker means creating a world without limits for everyone impacted by cystic fibrosis.
Why I Fundraise

My first memory of the journey through Sasha’s diagnosis was a call from a geneticist at London Health Sciences Centre. She told me that Sasha’s newborn screening came back positive for cystic fibrosis and that we would need to come to London the next day for more testing.
Merisa LePage, Mom to Sasha (living with CF) and Logan
Organizer of Superheroes Unite & The Royal Ball

Our granddaughter Josie, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was four years old. At the time we were shocked and dismayed on what to do or how to do it and what CF was all about. We tried to support her by learning how to do her treatments, helped her with her medication, and tried to make sure she participated in activities to keep keep her lungs working.
Ron Carmichael, Grandfather to Josie (living with CF)
Organizer of Gas-A-Rama

I have been on Trikafta since 2017 and I have seen improvements, but is it a miracle drug? No. It is not a cure. I still have lung issues, and I have still been admitted to hospital even while on Trikafta. I think a miracle drug would be a cure. This is for sure a step in the right direction.
Darren Kerr, lives with CF
Organizer of 65 KM for Cystic Fibrosis

What moves me most about Charlotte [my cousin] is her unwavering determination to never let cystic fibrosis define her or hold her back. Her strength of character and unshakeable spirit enable her to face life’s challenges with remarkable resilience and calm.
Paul Choquette, cousin to Charlotte (lives with CF)

How It's Done
There are no limits to what you can accomplish to support this community! Change Makers often use our fundraising portal to organize community events or to undertake a personal challenge. These local fundraising events are planned and executed by Change Makers either in person or online. From bake sales to golf tournaments to running a marathon – the possibilities are endless, and anyone can organize one. Events can span a single day, extend over a few months, or become a year-long challenge!

$250
Support the development of mental health resources for people with CF and caregivers.

$1000
Support a week of research to adapt a therapy program to a virtual format so that CF patients suffering from depression and anxiety can easily meet with a therapist.

$5000
Fund six weeks of research to help better understand the defective cells of the CF lung, helping researchers target future genetic therapies for people with CF.

To me, being a Change Maker means making a meaningful impact on myself and the community to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis Canada in a fun and positive way. If you are thinking of throwing your own fundraiser in the community, DO IT!
